Another Gomez De Liano, Andrada eyeing to make PBA

TWO young players hope to follow the footsteps of their respective brothers in the PBA.

Juan Gomez De Liano and Yukien Andrada formally applied in the Season 50 draft as more rookie prospects are making themselves available for the Sept. 7 proceedings at the Mall of Asia Music Hall.

Gomez De Liano, 25 and Andrada, 24 are the latest who submitted their applications papers at the PBA office on Thursday as the number of hopefuls have doubled the last two days.

So far the total applicants numbered at 72 with a full day left before the deadline for application ends by 5 p.m. on Friday (August 29).

De Liano's brother Javi previously played for Terrafirma before being trade this off season to Magnolia for shooting guard Jerrick Ahanmisi.

Andrada meanwhile, is the younger sibling of Yutien, who was part of the Alaska franchise, and later on carved out a career in the PBA 3x3.

Also applying in the final two days are former Batang Gilas player Harvey Pagsanjan of Emilio Aguinaldo College, former NCAA junior champion Macoy Marcos of College of St. Benilde, Adamson's Dawn Ochea, Fil-Canadian Jack Cruz-Dumont, Royce Mantua of Santo Tomas, burly Lorenz Capulong of Arellano, and National University's Jonas Tibayan.

By next week, all applicants will undergo the two-day Draft Combine on Sept. 4 and 5 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, where prospects are going to be assessed on their physical, athletic, and mental strength.

The official list of eligible draft applicants will then be released after the Draft Combine.

Terrafirma, Phoenix, and Blackwater own the top three picks in the Season 50 draft.(RG)
