THINGS have gotten better for Barangay Ginebra.
And the goal for the Gin Kings is to stay intact and push forward as they tangle with the Blackwater Bossing in the PBA Philippine Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Friday.
"Things are looking good. We're getting better, and this is the first time we've been able to put back-to-back games together. That's really important to us," said Ginebra coach Tim Cone in winning their last two games against Converge (85-66) and Phoenix Super LPG (119-112).
With those wins, Scottie Thompson and his teammates are now in the Top Four at 4-2 and very much in the race for high seeding and twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals.
Before their last two outings, the Gin Kings looked rusty from the in-between conference breather, going up-and-down in a 2-2 start in the all-Filipino tourney. They beat Terrafirma and NorthPort but dropped games versus San Miguel Beer and NLEX.

Meanwhile, Blackwater is in deep struggle, with a single win in its first six games in the season-ending tourney.
Coach Jeffrey Cariaso's couldn't get things done, going down in severe beatdowns by Magnolia (84-106), Converge (80-111), NLEX (72-80), Rain or Shine (106-120) and Meralco (85-103).
Needless to say, the Bossing are fighting for dear life as they play their last five games versus Ginebra, San Miguel Beer, TNT, Terrafirma and Phoenix.
Their last three games against the Gin Kings, the Road Warriors and the Tropang 5G could well determine their fate.
Ginebra is a squad on a roll, showing up Converge in their highly anticipated match in San Fernando, Pampanga then stoking the fire in their rampage versus Phoenix.
