Phoenix, NLEX mix it up in Ynares Center KO match

PHOENIX Super LPG and NLEX are in the same tight situation, both having no other recourse but to sweep their last three games to get a shot at the last berth in the PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs.

And so it's a fight for survival as the Fuel Masters and the Road Warriors slug it out in the 7:30 p.m. Sunday mainer at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

The immediate target for both is to gain a piece of ninth place with the Magnolia Hotshots at 4-6.

The end goal is to get the best finish they could at the end of the single-round-robin eliminations, and hope it's enough for a shot at a playoffs entry.

For they could finish at 6-6 and still miss the Top Eight, meaning their fate doesn't rest solely in their hands now.

But both aren't looking beyond Sunday's game. It's one game at a time, and they're focused on pulling this one over the other.

Coach Jong Uichico's Road Warriors are on a five-game slump, a sorry slide after a promising 3-1 conference start.

Coach Jamike Jarin's Fuel Masters, meanwhile, had looked to have gotten over the hump and set for a roll but was stopped on their track the last time by Magnolia, 104-110.

Before the loss to the Hotshots, the Fuel Masters scored three wins in four outings.
And thus they fight for dear life in their Antipolo face-off.

The Road Warriors dropped their last game against the TNT Tropang Giga with Robert Bolick playing limited minutes obviously due to health concern.
