Chiu looks forward to facing Fajardo and company

GEO Chiu is embracing not just the pressure of being Terrafirma's No. 1 pick, but the challenge of facing some of the premier bigs in the PBA.

"We know naman that this position is kind of tough, playing against imports and playing with some of the best in the PBA," the 6-foot-9 Chiu said.

Some of the names that will test the former Ateneo and Gilas Pilipinas mainstay are reigning Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer, Japeth Aguilar of Barangay Ginebra and the frontline duo of Justine Baltazar and Justin Arana of Converge.

Facing them, Chiu believes, will help a great deal in his learning curve once he steps foot on a PBA hardcourt upon completion of his MPBL campaign with the Abra Weavers.

"Yung mga makakalaban mo dito are a lot smarter, who are veterans and are a lot physical," Chiu said. "But for me, we're just gonna try to learn something that I look forward to facing yung mga names out there that are really good."

When Chiu starts his PBA journey will depend on how far his MPBL stint will last, especially with Abra being a favorite to at least enter the Finals in December.

But Chiu said he's willing to get himself familiar with his new team in-between games, as part of his preparation for his entry in the big league.
