PBA fetes Thompson for 500 career steals

SCOTTIE Thompson was formally recognized for becoming the newest member of the 500 steals club in the PBA.

The Barangay Ginebra guard received his official plaque at halftime of the Philippine Cup game between the Kings and the Northport Batang Pier Wednesday night at the Philsports Arena.

Commissioner Willie Marcial personally awarded Thompson his plaque and was joined by Board Vice Chairman Alfrancis Chua of Barangay Ginebra and Northport's team governor Eric Arejola.

The 31-year-old former league MVP reached the milestone during Ginebra's first game of the conference, a 101-80 blowout win over Terrafirma.

The Career Achievement Award was the third for Thompson in Season 49, according to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III.
