Terrafirma staying put for PBA 50th season

The Terrafirma Dyip are staying put in the PBA.

After negotiations for the sale of the franchise with prospective buyer Zamboanga Valientes fizzled out, the Dyip decided to retain their status as a member of the pro league's family.

"Nag-bog-down yung negotiations so hindi nag-materialize yung deal nung dalawa," Commissioner Willie Marcial said in a press briefing with PBA board secretary and legal counsel Ogie Narvasa Friday night.

"Ang Terrafirma ay patuloy pa rin sasali sa atin. So 12 teams pa rin tayo sa 50th season," Marcial added.

Terrafirma governor Bobby Rosales, according to Narvasa, assured the league it would form a competitive squad next season.

"Nung meeting, sinabi ni Governor Bobby na they have their plans already. Hindi naman sinabi sa amin paano, syempre hindi na sasabihin strategy nila yun. But he has plans to beef up and have a full lineup," said Narvasa.

Moving forward, the Dyip won't have Stanley Pringle anymore, though, as the veteran guard has opted for free agency and signed up with Rain or Shine already.

The franchise owns the playing rights of Christian Standhardinger, if ever he decides to return to playing.(OL)
